Spirit is Strong but is the Flesh? February 25, 2007 Good Morning: As we look out our windows and see another finale of yet another winter season going on around us. Our thoughts can understandingly drift off to the warm and pleasant moments of spring, which we will all soon be enjoying. It is the season of the year when those of us who are aware of the Lord’s holy days begin to look forward to the coming Passover Season and the joys of salvation that are associated with it. We remember that it was during this time of the year that the salvation event that led to the institution of Passover for us by Yahweh occurred. The exodus from Egypt was a new beginning for the Hebrew people, unlike any before it. It is for this reason that it reminds me so much of another new beginning one that occurred eons ago. From before even our most sophisticated scientific instruments can accurately measure God (Yahweh) created the universe an all that would be in it. Wow, what a new beginning that was. But before he did that he did something else. In our reading today from Proverbs 8 we learn of someone that God caused to come into being before he did anything else. She is wisdom. Keil and Deliztch in their commentary of the Bible refer to her as the daughter of Heaven, yet others refer to her as the Queen of heaven. By whatever title we call her by her presence in the heavens, as God’s first creation is hard to deny. This spiritual being was there when God created time, when God created the universe, and was there throughout the creation of the earth and all that is upon it. But what I find most interesting is her description of how Yahweh (God) enjoyed his work. Yahweh took delight in her presence and when he finished the world he rejoiced and then he rejoiced among the children of men. You know my fellow brothers and sisters. Wisdom is talking about you and me. Yahweh rejoiced when we came into being. Imagine that if you will for a second, Yahweh, as busy as he is, with all the important tasks he has to accomplish took time to rejoice over little ole’ insignificant you and me. How can it be that Yahweh would rejoice over me I ask myself? Yet he did and there was an actual witness to it. She was there and saw the almighty God rejoice among you and I. Now you may be far from being a God (Yahweh), but if you have something that you care about so much as to celebrate it coming into your possession it must be pretty special to you, right? Well then that must say a lot for how special you are to Yahweh. Thus Peter reminds of the voice from the heavens saying that Yeshua was the beloved son. In our reading today we learned that the voice that was heard from heaven was a feminine voice as the Greek word Taute’ is the feminine pronoun her. Peter goes on to tell us how this spirit, the Holy Ghost as it is called in the King James Bible or Set-apart-spirit as referred to in other Bibles was the moving force behind the holy men of old speaking out about Yahweh. Later in our lesson from the Sophia of Christ we read the recollections by early Christians of Yeshua’s teachings about the Spirit of Light and the Mother of Angels and even of the spirit identified as the Arch –Begetter (Satan) and his creations that think of themselves as gods. These entities that exist in the spirit are real dangerous entities that Yeshua warns us about as they prey not on our bodies but on our souls. Our physical bodies and minds are throw-away, but it is our souls that we need to protect from corruption because it is in our spiritual form that we will experience eternity be it as a part of Yahweh’s kingdom or in utter destruction in the flaming lake. Last week in the a reading from the Shepherd of Hemas we learned of a man who was called on to answer to the Lord, not for his actions in the physical world but for his spiritual actions. It was the feelings in his “heart” or soul that had lead him astray from the will of God. This, my friends is where Satan starts his attack because he knows we are taught by our modern sophisticated society that the spiritual world is nonsense and doesn’t exist. It gets all wrapped up in that ESP stuff and ghost busters. Yet this is how evil hides by disguising itself and spreading false information until we can no longer tell truth from lie, or right from wrong. Thus the warning we received from Yeshua in today’s reading from Mark 12, “beware of the scribes (lawyers)”. Yeshua (Jesus) is telling us to look for those who would twist and dissect the truth about God (Yahweh), about our creation, and about the spiritual world that exist around our physical one. These people who devour widows houses and make long prayers are the physical manifestation of the evil ones Yeshua tells us about. They hide amongst us ready to strike out at us, to lower our morale, to lower our resistance, to dissolve our faith in Yahweh if possible. The hope for all of us is to believe in the words of the Messiah Yeshua (Jesus) and allow our spirits to be guided by the Holy Spirit down the path of light and righteousness. Yahweh has delighted in us it has already been done, witnessed, and recorded. Now it is up to each one of us as true and faithful followers to remove our cloaks and let the light bestowed upon us shine out to the whole world. It is recorded that Yeshua told us he has broken the gates of evil and counteracted the evil desires that Satan held for us. We are free from the yoke of suffering if we reach out to the hand of love that is held out for us by our Lord and Messiah. Go forth into the world this week and spread the light of the lord amongst those you meet and let your good works towards others in the world be ordained by the Love of God (Yahweh). Amen.
